25 ways you can streamline your binding process

Plus quicklinks for more info on each.

Binding is one of the most common finishing processes, and one that has traditionally caused bottlenecks. It has been and continues to be a sore point, with shops struggling to collate, punch and bind various paper stocks, add inserts and cover materials efficiently.

This list of 25 machine options compiles all of our binding options into one place for you. Regardless of which step of the process you need help with, this list features:

  • Stand-alone punches
  • Wire punches and closers
  • Coil punches and closers
  • Comb punches and closers

Punching

The first step of binding any job is punching. If punching is your biggest bottleneck, here are some options for you. The machines you see in this list are capable of punching documents for coil, wire and comb binding.

Onyx 7700 Ultima

This is Rhin-O-Tuff's heavy-duty, tabletop punch designed for high volume commercial and corporate use. It has more than 20 interchangeable die options to punch hole patterns for coil, comb and wire binding, as well as 3-hole punching. To turn it into a binding system, it's easily paired with Rhin-O-Tuff's modular finishing units — the APES Auto Paper Ejector and Stacker or the PAL Pick-A-Lift Paper Picker — for maximum efficiency with this desktop unit.

A step down from the HD7700, is Rhin-O-Tuff's OD4012. This medium-duty open-ended tabletop punch has 12 standard interchangeable die patterns and is designed for standard-size, 11" document applications. Where the 7700 was capable of punching up to 55 sheets as wide as 14", the OD4012 punches only 30 sheets up to 11" wide.
